Smoothie Meal Prep: Plan Five Easy Breakfasts for the Week

Tropical Green, Berry Best and Peanut Oat smoothies in glasses with straws, surrounded by fruit

Smoothie meal prep doesn't mean blending five smoothies on a Sunday. It means having everything ready so each breakfast smoothie is quick on the day: smoothie packs in the freezer, a plan for the week, the right liquids in the fridge and your blender within reach.

Below you'll find a weekly checklist and a five-day plan you can copy and adapt.

Why not blend everything in advance?

Smoothies are best drunk straight after blending; left to stand, some ingredients start to discolour. That's why we don't recommend blending a week's worth and keeping them in the fridge. Freezer packs let you do the preparation ahead and still blend fresh each morning.

Your weekly smoothie prep checklist

  • Choose your flavours for the week (see the plan below).

  • Make freezer space, and put your packs in the freezer as soon as they arrive.

  • Check each pack's directions and note which liquid each flavour needs.

  • Stock your liquids: water, milk, coconut water or almond milk, depending on your flavours.

  • Have ice ready: fill an ice tray or check your supply.

  • Set up your blender somewhere easy to reach, with a measuring jug beside it.

A five-day breakfast smoothie plan

This plan uses the three flavours in Gulp's Morning Mix Trio: Berry Best, Peanut Oat and Tropical Green. Swap any day for a flavour you prefer.

Each morning: blend when you need it

  1. Take that day's pack out of the freezer. It's blended from frozen, so there's no need to defrost it.

  2. Add the pack contents and the liquid and ice from its directions to your blender, following your blender's instructions.

  3. Blend until smooth. If it's too thick, add a splash of liquid and blend again.

  4. Drink it straight away.

  5. Rinse the blender so it's ready for tomorrow.

Storage: follow the pack instructions

Keep your packs frozen until the morning you use them, and blend them straight from frozen. Follow the storage directions that come with your packs. If a pack has defrosted, check those directions or ask us before using it.

A note on breakfast

Everyone's needs are different. A smoothie can be part of your breakfast, but whether it's enough on its own depends on you, so add whatever else you usually eat in the morning.

Plan your week

The Morning Mix Trio includes a box of five packs each of Peanut Oat, Berry Best and Tropical Green, enough for this plan with some to spare. Want help choosing flavours for your week? Chat to us on WhatsApp.
