Peanut Butter, Banana and Oat Smoothie Without Protein Powder

Peanut Oat smoothie in a glass with a straw, with oats scattered beside it

A peanut butter, banana and oat smoothie is thick, creamy and nutty, sweetened with banana and dates, and you don't need protein powder to make one. The simplest way is Gulp's Peanut Oat pack, which has the ingredients prepped and frozen: blend it with 150 ml milk and ice.

This is a method for a ready-to-blend pack rather than a from-scratch recipe. The pack is already portioned, so there's nothing to weigh.

What does it taste like?

  • Peanut butter brings a rich, roasted, nutty flavour.

  • Banana adds sweetness and creaminess.

  • Oats give the smoothie body.

  • Yoghurt adds a little tang.

  • Cinnamon adds warmth.

  • Dates add a caramel-like sweetness.

What's in the Peanut Oat pack?

Banana, peanut butter, yoghurt, oats, cinnamon and dates. That's the full ingredient list for the pack; there's no protein powder in it.

What you add

  • 150 ml milk

  • Ice

The milk and ice aren't in the pack; you add them when you blend.

Method

  1. Take one Peanut Oat pack from the freezer. Don't defrost it; it's blended from frozen.

  2. Measure 150 ml milk.

  3. Add the milk, the contents of the pack and ice to your blender, in the order your blender's instructions recommend.

  4. Blend, starting slowly and increasing the speed, until smooth.

  5. Pour and drink straight away.

Adjusting the texture

  • Too thick? Add a small splash more milk and blend again.

  • Want it colder or thicker? Add a little more ice.

  • Still a few flecks of oats? Blend a little longer.

For more help, see our guide to making a smoothie with frozen fruit, which covers smoothies that are too thick or won't blend.

Optional additions

These are extras you can add yourself. They aren't part of the Peanut Oat pack, and they change the taste and the allergen information:

  • A pinch more cinnamon for extra warmth

  • A spoonful of cocoa powder for a chocolate and peanut butter flavour

  • A drizzle of honey if you like it sweeter

  • A plant-based milk instead of dairy milk. The pack still contains yoghurt, so the smoothie won't be dairy-free.

If you'd like chocolate and peanut butter without adding anything, try Choc Nut, which contains banana, peanut butter, coconut milk, cocoa powder, cinnamon and dates.

Allergen information

  • Declared allergens in the Peanut Oat pack: cow's milk and peanuts.

  • Added when you blend: dairy milk contains cow's milk. Any extras you add may contain other allergens.

  • Oats: the pack contains oats. If you need to avoid gluten or oats, check the pack label or ask us before ordering.

Allergen information is for the frozen pouch. Liquids and extras added when blending may contain additional allergens.
